Book Synopsis
The objective of these writings is to give honor and stature to the approximately 25,000 men who were willing to leave their homes and families, while they subjected themselves to the tedium of repeatedly going where, they did not know, to stand ready to do, something they wished never to need to do, only to return to rest awhile so that they could do it all over again and again and again. They wear few medals, are the subjects of no individual monuments to their tireless efforts, and seek no special favors for their individual sacrifices.

About The Author
The author was carried often kicking and scratching, from a one room grade school, and a 42 student rural high school all the way to the honored position of serving with the brightest and finest the US Navy had to offer.

"We rode her down the ways and made her our own, and in the minds of those who knew her she became the undisputed queen of the fleet." He feels certain those words could be applied with equal abandon to each of the crews of the FBM's that comprised the original "41" for Freedom.
